Thriving, Not Just Surviving | Wellness & Stress Management Tips for Lash Artists During Peak Seasons

We all know how crazy it can get with back-to-back lash extension appointments, right? But here's the thing – amidst all this hustle, it's super important to look after ourselves, especially during this busy festive season. After all, we can't pour from an empty cup! So how are you meant to create gorgeous lashes whilst you’re run down? That being said, let's dive into some real talk about self-care during those super busy times.

    Make Time to Pamper Yourself

First things first, let's talk about pampering ourselves. Yes, you heard that right! In the midst of applying those stunning eyelash extensions, it's crucial to take a moment for some self-love. Whether it's a quick face mask, a relaxing bath after a long day, or indulging in your favorite hobby, make sure you're giving yourself some much-needed TLC. Trust us, your mind and body will thank you for it!

    Don't Overbook – Seriously, Don't

We know, we know – it's tempting to fit in as many clients as possible, especially during peak seasons. But here's a friendly reminder: don't overbook yourself. It's a surefire way to stress and burnout. Plus, when we're overbooked, the quality of our work can slip, and nobody wants that. So, let's keep our schedules sane, shall we? On the same topic, it’s also important to leave a little time before each appointment, just in case your last one runs slightly over which will not only upset your next client but stress you out too. You'll also want to give yourself enough time to clean and organize your workstation effectively, after every client. Try to effectively keep track of your appointments, and remember, it's not just about fitting clients in; you should always allocate time for breaks, client consultations, and clean-up.

Remember to Have a Lunch Break

We know this is following on from the previous but this one needed its own discussion! This one's a biggie – always take your lunch break. It's easy to skip meals when we're swamped, but eating is super important. Not just any food, though; coffee and the occasional sweet treat will not do it. Try to grab something nutritious that'll keep your energy up, and even stepping away from the lash station for a bit can really recharge your batteries. It’s also very important to stay hydrated, and believe us, we found out the hard way. This is why we have now the perfect self-care product that is a must-have for this festive season -  our Lash Baddie Tumbler has a capacity of 750ml, so take a sip in between your treatments and keep your electrolytes flowing.

    Your Health is Your Wealth

When you're busy, it's easy to neglect your physical health, but physical health is key in our line of work as we need to be in top shape to deliver those flawless lash sets. Start with the basics: ensure you're eating nutritious meals that fuel your energy throughout the day, this includes lots of veggies, fruits, and protein between appointments to keep your energy levels up. Don’t forget to stay hydrated (keep that water tumbler handy!), and get some exercise in. Even a short walk or a quick stretching session can do wonders for your body, especially considering the hours you spend in a seated position.

That being said, your mental well-being is just as important. High stress can lead to burnout, and nobody wants that. So, find ways to de-stress. Maybe it's meditation, yoga, listening to your favorite podcast, or just taking a few minutes of deep breathing between clients. Remember, you’re not a miracle worker (even if your lash sets say otherwise), and it's okay to take a mental health day when needed. You're not just a Lash Tech; you're a human being who needs rest and recuperation.

Your Workspace – Make it Comfy

As Lash Technicians, we spend a lot of time at our stations, and it can significantly impact your physical and mental well-being. So, let's make sure they're as comfy and cozy as possible! A good chair, proper lighting, and efficient storage for your lash supplies can make a world of difference. Don’t forget all of the little things too such as having blankets, stylish lash salon decor, and even just keeping it clean (which you definitely should be doing anyway), will make your home away from home all that more comfortable. P.S. We have some great storage solutions, accessories, and decor pieces that are a total game-changer.

    Stay Connected with Your Community

Remember, you're not alone - we're all in this together, so let's stay connected! Sharing experiences and tips with other Lash Techs can be super helpful and reassuring, whether it be locally or online. Plus, the lash world is always evolving, and so should we, therefore networking is a great way to keep up with the latest trends and techniques in this ever-growing industry. Don’t worry if you feel like sometimes you can’t keep up, because there are other Lash Technicians that feel the same way!

    Celebrate Your Wins

Last but not least, celebrate your successes, big or small. Nailed a challenging lash set? Received great feedback from a client? Pat yourself on the back! Recognizing your achievements is a great morale booster, and just think about how incredible it will feel when your busy period mellows down - you’ll probably even miss it!

So there you have it – self-care isn't just a luxury; it's essential for Lash Techs. Being a Lash Technician, especially during busy seasons, requires a balance of skill, dedication, and self-care. By prioritizing your physical and mental health, managing your time effectively, and staying connected with your community, you can thrive, even during the most hectic times of the year. By taking care of yourself, you can keep doing what we love: making our clients look and feel fabulous!
