IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE | KEEPING HYDRATED AS A LASH TECH

Two things we’re BIG fans of at London Lash HQ are saving time, and looking out for ourselves - that’s why we write posts about how you can save time and still slay your lash sets, and why we’ve just introduced our large capacity double-walled tumbler to the London Lash Accessories collection!

Our new tumbler looks cute on your trolley, ensures you always have something hydrating to hand, and keeps your drink cool for up to 6 hours.

Dehydration causes lack of energy, inattentiveness and irritability to name a few things - none of which are desirable qualities in a lash tech! Staying hydrated really has an impact on so much, including your relationships with staff and clients, and the quality of your work so when it comes to staying hydrated as a lash tech and business owner, it’s kind of a big deal!

While we all know water is important, it can feel a little…boring sometimes, so just to give you a few ideas on how to stay hydrated whilst keeping it interesting!

If you're short on time but you like your hydration to come with a side of sass, add some fruit to your water!

When you pour in your water and add some ice, pop in some fruits for extra flavour. Some great combinations include:

  • Lemon slices and halved blueberries
  • Orange slices and slightly squashed raspberries
  • Strawberry and cucumber slices
  • Lime slices and slightly squashed mint

Or, if you've got some free time and you're feeling fruity, make up some tasty juices in place or water!

STRAWBERRY LEMONADE

  • 65g fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 75ml fresh lemon juice
  • 475ml water (filtered or coconut water works best!)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • A pinch of sea salt

Put all ingredients in a blender and pulse for about 30 seconds, or until strawberries are pureed. Add ice and sip slowly!

FAUX-JITO

  • Juice of one large lime
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Half a tbsp Honey
  • 375ml soda water
  • A pinch of sea salt

Add everything to your cup with ice and stir, letting the ice bruise the mint a little to release the flavour. Savour on warm summer afternoons.

A COS-NO-POLITAN

  • 350ml Cranberry juice
  • 150ml Orange juice (freshly squeezed, if you can!)
  • Juice of half a lime

Add to the cup with ice and live your best Carrie Bradshaw life!

And lastly, would we even be lash techs if we didn’t suggest some kind of coffee?! While this cup isn’t best used for hot drinks, we can talk you through how we make cold brew lattes and iced coffee at home!

This cold-brew works best with ground coffee beans, so if you have a cafetiere this one will be an instant fave, but you can make this with granulated coffee in a pinch!

Grind your coffee beans/take a scoop of coffee as you normally would and add it to your cafetiere. Instead of adding boiling water, add cold from the tap or water filter. Cover and leave in the fridge overnight before stirring and straining the coffee. (If you’re using instant coffee, add a spoonful as normal and put into your cup with cold water, stir and leave in the fridge until the granules are all dissolved)

In the morning, pour your cold brew over ice and you’re good to go! If you’re in the mood for a latte, use half the coffee and save the rest for later/tomorrow, pour over ice and top up with any milk you like. Add sweetness/syrup to taste.

And before you say it, no - coffee isn’t as dehydrating as we’ve previously been led to believe, it’s a myth! So you can stay hydrated and caffeinated all day, every day, just so long as it doesn't make your hands shake.
