Happy Earth Day!

In celebration of Earth Day, and as a business that advocates for sustainability, we want to enlighten you on how we are on our path to becoming more eco-friendly and sustainable. The terms ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘sustainability’ are often thrown around, but we have made it our mission to be well-versed on these topics and act on them. We believe that there is no better way forward, as individuals and as a business, than to be more sustainable on a global scale. Now more than ever we have been shown how important it is for us, as a population, to act NOW and make the world a better place for the generations to come. Countless hard-hitting documentaries and incredible activists such as Greta Thunberg have really shone a light on this major problem, and if you haven’t been listening, it’s time to start!

Earth Day is an internationally celebrated event that demonstrates the commitment to environmental protection. Here at London Lash, we take our environmental impact very seriously! Our mission is to leave as small a carbon footprint as possible, and we are always trying to improve, grow, and learn. Not only do we want to continue to be more sustainable, but we also hope to encourage other brands, and users of our brand, to follow in our ‘non-carbon’ footsteps!

If you were wondering, here are the steps we have taken to make ourselves more environmentally friendly:

Lash Trays

If you are a London Lash OG, you may have noticed that our lash boxes that used to look like this…

Now they look like this!

Why have we changed our packaging?

We're sad to say that we discovered that our previous design contained magnetic elements and spot UV print which were not recyclable. To solve this issue, we have since removed these elements so that our boxes are fully recyclable. You heard that right - our eyelash extension packing is completely recyclable!

Say NO to Plastics

We are moving away from plastics and using paper alternatives.

Why Use Paper Alternatives?

By now, you may already be aware that plastics harm the environment. This is because it takes along time for them to biodegrade, and by a long time we mean a LONG time. Some plastics take between 20-500 years to fully decompose, whereas paper can be used in compost and usually takes 2-6 weeks to decompose. So, it’s a no-brainer as to why we have chosen to use paper alternatives and cut down on plastic packaging - whether it be the product packaging itself or our postage packaging.

With this in mind, we also decided to get rid of our bubble wrap which was made from non-biodegradable plastics, and switch it out for eco-friendly and recyclable protective paper. As a result, we are reducing any plastic waste from London Lash in terms of packaging. Additionally, we have swapped out our plastic bags that hold your beloved lash trays to biodegradable alternatives, and now use biodegradable and recyclable padded envelopes, and Kraft paper tape instead of plastic packaging tape - this ensures that you can shop all the best eyelash extension supplies, guilt-free.

Take a look at our biodegradable and dissolvable packing chips - there is no longer a need for polystyrene packaging chips!

Why Use Biodegradable Packing Chips?

Since decided to use biodegradable chips, we have never gone back! This type of packaging is made from starch, which dissolve quickly when exposed to running water. Unlike traditional polystyrene chips, which are made from non-recyclable and slow-to-biodegrade hydrocarbon styrene, our new chips significantly reduce wastage. Plus, they're super fun to use! We've also switched from plastic to recyclable glass product bottles with gorgeous, sleek designs. So, now you can shop our popular lash booster and lash primers without worrying about the plastic waste!

Why Change to Glass Bottles?

Did you know that glass can be repurposed up to 80%, unlike plastics which cannot always be recycled? Glass is also safer for the environment since it does not release harmful toxins when it breaks down, unlike plastic. Not only is glass more attractive on your lash trolley, but it also helps our planet. So, why wouldn’t we make the switch to glass and contribute to a greener future?

Although we have already taken the necessary steps to reduce our carbon footprint, we don’t plan to stop here. At London Lash,we prioritize sustainability and strive to minimize our impact on the environment. We aim to lead the industry in eco-friendliness and make a positive contribution to the planet. We value your input and invite you to share your feedback with us - leave us your thoughts by sending us a message or leaving a comment on our socials.

Lots of love,
