Congrats! You’ve finished your lash certification, got your setup looking fabulous, and you’re ready to start lashing paying clients. You’ve probably been practicing on friends and family for a while now (thanks to them for being your guinea pigs!), but now it’s time to get some real, regular clients in your chair. So, how do you build your clientele as a lash tech?
Word of mouth is seriously the foundation of any business. It can mean the difference between a slow trickle of clients and a steady stream of appointments! If you’ve been perfecting your lash skills on friends and family, they probably haven’t been paying much—if anything. Now it’s their turn to help you out by spreading the word about your fabulous lash services. This could easily lead to a few new bookings!
But let’s be real—word of mouth isn’t enough on its own, so what else can you do to grow your client list?
We’re living in the age of social media, and let’s face it, it’s where everyone’s searching for new products and services. Keeping your social media accounts updated with beautiful lash pics, videos, and a sprinkle of personality will give potential clients a reason to hit you up. Your posts are like mini advertisements that work for you 24/7! Whether it’s Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok, get those lashes on display and watch those DMs light up!
Reviews are your best friend when it comes to convincing potential clients that you’re the lash tech to book with. There are a couple of places you can start gathering these gems:
Facebook: Super easy to use, and clients can leave recommendations on your business page. Facebook’s review system is now more of a “recommend” or “don’t recommend” model, but clients can still write detailed feedback that’ll make others want to book with you.
Google Business: Definitely set up a Google Business account if you haven’t already. It’s a great way for people to find you, learn your hours, and—most importantly—leave reviews. Google reviews are super powerful when potential clients are researching who to book.
Your Website: If you’re ready for the next level, having your own website where clients can see your work, book appointments, and leave reviews all in one place is amazing. It takes some effort to maintain, but it’s a solid investment in the long run.
This one might seem basic, but fast and thoughtful responses to inquiries can make or break a booking. Set up an automatic reply so clients know you’ll get back to them soon, and block out some time in your day to respond to messages. Just be sure to keep it within business hours—your personal time matters, too! Quick replies show clients that you’re professional, reliable, and ready to lash!
Who doesn’t love a good deal? Introductory offers are a fantastic way to encourage potential clients to book. If you’re not sure where to begin, here are a few ideas to get you started:
Discount on full sets and infills: Offer 25% off when clients book both a full set and their infill appointment. It’s a great way to encourage rebooking!
Referral perks: Offer referral discounts—$10 off for both the referrer and their friend when they book a full set. This encourages current clients to spread the word!
Free aftercare kits: Offering a complimentary aftercare bundle for clients who book in your first month is another way to sweeten the deal. Just keep in mind that this might cut into profits a bit, so plan carefully. However, if they love the products, they might come back to purchase more!
Building a client base takes time, but with a little creativity, consistency, and hustle, you’ll have your schedule filled up in no time. Get out there and show them why you’re the lash tech they’ve been looking for!
